The past few years have witnessed a rapid growth of business coaching. Especially in developed countries like the U.S., people are increasingly realizing the value of strategic business coaching. As a result, business coaching has become a booming service sector, which is set to continue to be so in the future. Thus, there are increasing numbers of business owners who have benefited strategically from their business coaches. Some of the strategic benefits that a business coach provides his or her clients are:

Clear vision and focus to set future goals for the business.

Help to set up a defined set of objectives and goals, along with a strategic action plan to achieve them.

There is constant support and assurance of commitment from the coach.

Help to adopt a proactive approach towards evaluating problems and resolving them, and acting upon the opportunities as they occur.

Business coaches help their clients to develop an improved decision-making procedure.

A business coach also is a trusted confidante, advisor, and an enlightened guide.

Business coaches focus most on improving the financial performance of the business.

The main method that a good business coach follows is not to work in your business but on your business.

They also help the entrepreneurs to improve their customer service system so that more clients can be attracted.

A business coach focuses on the main weak points, and works with the business owner to remove them, so that there is an increase in productivity.

Plus, a business coach sees to it that his/her client develops strategic thinking capabilities, and helps them to improve their capacity to deal with the ever changing business world.

The above mentioned are only some of the many benefits that have made business coaching popular in recent times. Yet there are critics who dismiss business coaching as just a fad that will not last long. However, surveys and figures prove that business coaching is here to stay. In fact, it has been demonstrated time and again that business coaching is one of the most effective ways to sharpen ones professional edge over others. This is backed by a recent survey done by Fast Company Magazine which found that up to 40% of Fortune 500 companies hire business coaches to improve their businesses. Being hard-nosed entrepreneurs, they would not be hiring them if they did not get good returns on their investment.

Some critics even argue that business coaching is not upgrading itself with the changing standards of the business world. In other words, they are giving the same outdated training, using the same tools and equipment that are a decade old. But that is not true, because professional business coaches conduct and attend seminars where the main focus is on futuristic methods of coaching.

There have been considerable discoveries and innovations in the field of business coaching as well, like the Core Dynamic model or the WaveMaker coaching practices. These work on eliminating the restrictions people put on themselves, so that they become capable of solving problems by themselves. Hence, considering all the above advantages, combined with the most cutting-edge business coaching techniques, it can be said that business coaching is here to stay.

“There are few Enterprise Business and Facilities Planning systems which eliminate shortcomings,” according to manufacturing journalist Thomas R. Cutler in the current issue of Automation.com. Cutler suggests, “A sophisticated state-of-the-art linear programming model is required that uses optimization tools to quickly and easily solve extremely complex business problems. The value must provide a solution that represents the best solution for a business based upon the current and projected operating environment.”

Rebecca Gill, vice-president with Technology Group International, an Enterprise Business and Facilities Planning provider noted that, “The system integrates diverse input parameters, which describe your current business environment, to derive a single coherent optimum solution to any distribution and/or manufacturing related business problem. The system handles manufacturing constraints such as total labor availability at a facility, manufacturing labor requirements by product, multi-step routings and variable production rates. Distribution constraints include warehouse storage and inbound/outbound handling capacities, as well as carrier availability, capacity, and cost by mode (such as 53’ van, 48’ van, TOFC, rail, flatbed). Moreover, the system is designed so that it can readily be used in a wide variety of business environments. These include process, discrete, repetitive and make to order manufacturing environments, as well as both single and multi-location distribution environments.”

Surrounding this linear optimization process must be a series of extremely user friendly graphical user interface (GUI) application interfaces that make creation, use, solution and interpretation of even the most complex business situation easy and straight forward. Output information must be viewed through generation of a series of reports that include production plans and schedules, facility service areas by product and inventory levels by storage location and type.

A variety of model configurations should be easily selected by the user. These configurations must allow the solution of problems ranging from long range facilities planning and analysis, to short term tactical planning, production scheduling, and carrier assignment. By simply changing a single selection, the user must be given the ability to find answers to questions starting out at a highly aggregated level, and then drill down to solutions at progressively more detailed levels.

The systems interfaces must allow data to be stored in the system at an extremely detailed level for use in daily execution planning of production schedules, labor requirements and restrictions, and carrier selection. Using user defined rules in conjunction with this same detail information, the system must provide the user with the capability of aggregating the information into groupings of data types from individual SKU’s being aggregated to form product groupings, for purposes of engaging in long or intermediate range facilities planning and analysis tasks.

I need a software that I can use to help a business focus on specific financial business processes such as planning, reporting, budgeting, consolidation, risk assessment, forecasting, and strategy development.

Quickbooks.com

It easily integrates with Microsoft Excel.

I’m asking this because I get upwards of 150 emails every day and there aren’t enough hours in the day to read them, let alone respond. It seems to me that although it used to help increase business efficiency it often now just clogs up people’s days.

Or, alternatively, is this just a symptom of employees being expected to work ever longer and harder these days?

There are lots of explanations.

Well I once worked with a teacher who would spend his whole day answering student emails and being asked questions from students. But as I listened to the questions they were the sort of questions that should never have been asked. They students should have been told the information in class. Because of his stupidity he was being asked simple questions over and over again.

Solution. Make sure the information is available from other sources, so people don’t need to email you (not always easy to do, but it will depend on your job).

Also, email makes us lazy. We don’t take the time to get the deal right the first time, so we ask lots of silly follow up questions, and expect immediate answers.

Finally, some people just end up too busy because the work load is poorly distributed on the organisation badly structured. In one place I worked, I calculated that if I went to all the meetings relevant to my job, I would spend half my working week in meetings. While some people need to be in meetings, it shouldn’t have been the core part of my job.

Basically the solution goes like this.

1. Fix your own problems first. Look at what you are doing inefficiently, look at the stupid questions people are asking you that they shouldn’t have to ask. Maybe your whole team needs to deal with this.

2. Talk to your boss about your workload. Maybe it is a sign of your success. Maybe it can mean a promotion, or you at least get an assistant or another member to your department. In the best possible situation structures may be put in place to make email handling more efficient.

3. Put up with it. It is part of modern working life and what we can’t change we have to endure.

CIBC estimates that approximately $1.2 trillion in Canadian business assets alone will change hands by 2010 as more baby boomers anticipate retirement. Imagine what that means for American businesses!

Business owners not only have to worry about their own retirement planning, but will also need an exit
strategy and a long-term plan for their employees. The same study found that 60% of small business owners haven’t even begun to discuss their retirement plans yet.

Don’t leave yourself struggling to pay bills or your employees hanging high and dry. Develop a responsible plan for building business after you’ve retired and explore your options today.

Social security and pension plans should be the baseboard for your retirement planning, but you’ll have to think more creatively to continue making money once you’ve left your business.

Many owners, while simultaneously building business, choose real estate investment properties or further their stock and mutual fund investments.

In addition to expanding your business, you should be retirement planning and considering an exit or succession strategy. Recruiting the services of a financial planner can be an invaluable asset.

For many retirees, 31% of their business retirement plan will come from the sale of their business. An additional 28% will come from a registered government savings plan, such as an IRA or 401k, and 25% from stock market investments. The smallest income will be the 16% from social security or pension funds.

Should you offer employee retirement planning? While building business, it’s a good idea to share some of the company profits with hard-working employees. Generally a company with an employee retirement plan will have better productivity, stock purchases, employee retention and a more secure future.

For starters, you may want to consider a Simplified Employer Pension IRA. You will make contributions to a general fund, using up to 15% of employee income, in the employee’s name which they will receive when they retire or decide to dip into the fund.

You can decide what percentage of the company’s profits you’ll distribute among employees and you’ll enjoy easy administration, no additional IRS reporting, tax kickbacks and a better rapport with your employees.

One in five small businesses now offers an employee retirement plan, so don’t hesitate to look into a SEP-IRA or 401k plan when building business.

While it may seem like a daunting task to cover the retirement planning of yourself and your employees while building business, a simple trip to Fidelity Financial or a financial planner could get you on the right track.

By learning more about your investment options and developing an exit strategy, you can ensure that your golden years will truly be the best.

Business organizations have many opportunities to save money through software discounts given by companies that appreciate them. These organizations buy their software in bulk, and are given deep discounts for those large quantity purchases.

There is non-expensive bulk emailing software that is routinely installed as marketing software on business computers. This computer software is specially made to work with email mailing lists and will save the company money by not having to be mailed through the postal system. This software based shipping tools keeps company monies in-house, where it can be used for other projects.

Other businesses such as corporations, web hosting services, and web based auction sellers, as well as all Government based operations also benefit from these bulk purchase software discounts received, because they chose to buy in large quantities at one time, and internally distribute them to their clients once or twice a year.

Most bulk software discounts received by government purchasing agents, are specifically packaged and shipped from the manufacturer to military installations around the world. These large quantity purchases are authorized through the General Services Administration, and are directed at saving military installations, Government agencies and Government contractors who work with specialized government owned computer systems money on their Operating budgets.

All government agencies can use the General Services Administration catalogue to pick and choose software discounts that will benefit their individual mission. Annual budgets routinely include software purchases that are highly discounted. Some government agencies take advantage of open source software, which is free and employ computer specialists that modify this free data form software for government use, where the software discounts received are tailored made to meet their uses at any time.

To ensure software discounts received through bulk purchase orders are received, all government spending on consumables and inventory are monitored. Purchases will generally be authorized from vendors that are listed in the GSA catalogue. Some exceptions are made, but for the most part, the software discounts received are from a business that contracted through a bidding process, to provide their products to their Government based purchasing departments.

The software discounts received by buying in bulk quantities are further enhanced by another Government agency, the United States Post Office. They offer deep discounts in their mailing rates for businesses that use bulk mailing methods to ship their periodicals and correspondence. In this case, bulk shipping is financially beneficial to both parties. It is cheaper to combine like items shipped by a business, and cheaper for the Postal Service to process it and get it to its destination on time.

The software discounts received by businesses that purchase computer software in bulk lots, are sometimes given by manufacturers in the form of extra user licenses. This means that one additional person in an office can load that program on their computer system without the company having to spend money on that license.

Gaining access to other software discounts available throughout the Internet is as easy as downloading any product catalogue on a company website at no charge. Business organization keep track of which companies offer software discounts received by bulk purchases, and they know which offerings are the most beneficial for their company.

This is a generic question so I’ll break it down somewhat. What type of application are you using that doesn’t currently do the trick, why? What features should/shouldn’t it have? Maybe you’re a small business that can’t afford an application that large organizations have the budget for. What current business processes do you have that could be simplified with an application? All of these general statements should set off a light bulb. What piece of software could you benefit from, and don’t because of budget, doesn’t exist, current software solution has limitations, ect.

Hi Ryan
I raun a small hotel and each day have to access about 10 websites to update availability. The formats rates etc are specific to each and it is a real pain. Would be great to have an affordable piese of software that could talk to all.

web-browsing, email, computer games, business productivity (eg. word processors, spreadsheets), programming etc. or anything else that I’ve missed out?

Do you use your computer everyday? (This might be not very useful since I’m asking online :-) )

Which of these do you do more than 3 times a week?

Thanks

Web-browsing, email, and computer games I use 3 times a week.

The computer is a great tool if you know how to use it.

Maybe you missed out blogging and videos?

Either machine would probably work just fine. Alienware machines are typically more geared towards gamers. The Alienware machine seems faster. The only downside that I can see is the Nvidia card in the AW might be more of a gaming card. I would research how the ATI vs Nvidia performance differs on the specific apps you are interested in running.

Hypnotherapy is known the world over for being a great tool for self change and personal development; however it is capable of much more such as, it is a fantastic tool for business growth and development for business’ of all sizes.
