You pretty well nailed it! There isn’t a government employee who doesn’t know what a hassle it would be in order to terminate them, almost impossible because of laws protecting them with "due process." I think that most gov. employees earn their pay, but there are all too many who don’t and like they do at the shipyards from time to time, they have to bring a ship in and scrape the barnacles off the bottom because they create too much drag for the ship and makes it far less efficient. …and it all starts with our Congress.

It’s untrue that they’re accountable to no one.

Government agencies also use efficiency experts, and have more oversight than businesses.

Uh, that’s a tall order as there are huge numbers of departments, agencies, and governmental bodies.

Many of them I give quite high ratings to. Others, not so much. They also vary over time. For instance, because Bush slashed agencies, people died of bad food and dangerous toys, and other products. Under his corrupt appointments, many agencies failed to do their jobs.

I have friends and relatives who work for the Federal government. Some of them work very hard, but others have slacked off for years and nobody cares. One left their job because it was so boring and they only had to work 1 1/2 hours a day. There was nothing to do, and nothing to learn.

I also used to ride a commuter train with many Federal employees. I was constantly overhearing conversations about who to "impress" to get to the next pay grade. This is "impress", as in "i hear you like football, so do I", "you’re from Jersey? So’s my dad."…

Not that this doesn’t happen in private companies too, but in government it’s more common and entirely unchallenged.

Absolutely.

Do you think you’d get that shitty attitude while purchasing your car tag, if there were three or four OTHER tag sellers in the area, and the ones who couldn’t satisfy customers lost MONEY?

As it is, the tag seller can treat you any way they want, because you absolutely MUST have their product, and NO ONE ELSE is selling tags.

The government is a textbook case of ABSOLUTE MONOPOLY.
The customer (that’s you) will ALWAYS lose in a no-competition market place.

Actually right now GE and the Obama administration have a fascist partnership.

Ge aka MSNBC provided Obama propaganda all day long and the Obama administration puts policies into place that makes GE billions.

So GE is not a good example.

The fact is without profit motive there is no incentive to cut waste and be productive.

That is why the government is grossly inefficient.
